Automated vehicle trials in Finland
Finland's current road traffic legislation already permits automated vehicle trials – no amendments will be required. Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi aims to make the testing and use of automated vehicles possible in Finland. Parties interested in or planning trials of automated vehicles are invited to contact Trafi in this regard. In practice, Trafi will facilitate the implementation of trials through means such as proposing solutions for driver specification and helping with the technical approval and registration of the vehicle.
Find open testing ecosystems from the map
The Traffic Lab test site map illustrates open test environments and ecosystems in Finland. The testing ecosystems enable experimentation, cooperation and new digital solutions in the Nordic conditions. The test site map highlights which ecosystems are open for international companies to test digital solutions in Finland. In addition, the map points out the 5G Test Network Finland which are platfroms which support national co-operation and application for EU funding.
What is Traffic Lab?
The objective of the Traffic Lab is to promote new transport services and the digitalisation of traffic in order to improve transport system, environmental friendly solutions and transport safety. In addition, the Traffic Lab aims at helping with traffic-related legislative questions and at mapping funding channels. Achieving new solutions requires insight and combining new services to the existing structures. As the operational environment is at a turning point, we need, above all, encouraging, close and open collaboration with enterprises, public administration and research operators.
